We can help you schedule your elective surgery promptly helping avoid unnecessary ER visits and emergencies
Gallblader Surgery
Gallbladder removal surgery, also known as a cholecystectomy, is a very common procedure.
The gallbladder is a small, pouch-like organ in the upper right part of your tummy.
It stores bile, a fluid produced by the liver that helps break down fatty foods.
You don't need a gallbladder, so once it starts causing pain surgery to take it out is often recommended. Some other symptoms may include gases, bloating, nausea which at times occur secondary to stones or dysfunction of the gallbladder wall itself.
Umbilical Hernia Repair
An umbilical hernia occurs at the umbilicus (belly button) when a loop of intestine pushes through the umbilical ring, a small opening in the abdominal wall. A loop of intestine can move into and even penetrate the opening between abdominal muscles and cause a bulge and pain. It is important to get this fixed before it becomes an emergency. Repair can be done open, laparoscopically or robotically depending on the size of the deffect.
Inguinal Hernia
An inguinal hernia is a bulging of the contents of the abdomen through a small opening or hole in the lower abdominal wall. Inguinal hernias can occur at either of two passages through the lower abdominal wall, one on each side of the groin. These passages are called inguinal canals. Once they start causing discomfort, pain or growing elective repair is recommended. Dr. Texidor offers robotic repair which minimizes pain and enhances recovery.
In-Office Procedures
We can proivide an in-person or virtual consultation for any masses, bumps or lumps to see if you are a candidate to have it removed in the office under local anesthesia.
Lipomas
A lipoma is a lump of fatty tissue that grows just under the skin and sometimes even under the muscle. Lipomas move easily when you touch them and feel rubbery, not hard. Most lipomas aren’t painful and don't cause health problems, but they can grow to large sizes. If a lipoma is bothering you removal can be easily done in the office under local anesthesia.
Cysts
Epidermoid cysts are noncancerous small bumps beneath the skin. They can appear anywhere on the skin, but are most common on the face, neck and trunk.
Epidermoid cysts are slow growing and often painless. They often get infected and need drainage. You might choose to have your cyst removed before it gets painful, infected or if its appearance bothers you.
Skin Moles
A common mole is a growth on the skin that develops when pigment cells (melanocytes) grow in clusters.
Certain changes in a mole may indicate that it is turning into a skin cancer. You may consider a biopsy if you notice
-
The color of the mole changes in shape, texture, or height or starts itching
-
The mole gets unevenly smaller or bigger, becomes hard or lumpy
-
The skin on the surface of the mole becomes dry or scaly
-
The mole bleeds or oozes
